Gary Latham, Photographer
"I like to take pictures.
I'm interested in people, culture, society and a sense of place.
I travel a lot.
I'm a romantic of sorts.
I was once described as having a 19th Century sensibility.
I like nostalgia, found things and a touch of fantasy."
Gary Latham is a graduate of Blackpool College and has a BA (Hons) in Photography from Lancaster University. He has been a freelance photographer since 1998. Professionally he specialises in travel, lifestyle and food photography. Privately he has a special interest in Landscape and Black & White images and for many years was a darkroom printing specialist.
After graduation Gary moved to London and assisted leading advertising and fashion photographers before becoming a freelance professional photographer in 1998. Since then he has worked for magazines, book publishers, advertising agencies and companies based in the UK and worldwide. Gary is a regular contributor to Food and Travel Magazine, Lonely Planet Magazine and National Geographic Magazine.
In 2012, while on assignment for Food and Travel Magazine in Burma he met the tour operator All Points East and became their photography tour leader in Burma, Cambodia, Vietnam, Thailand and Laos. "It's a chance to show people around my favourite parts of South East Asia while helping them to get more out of their photographic experience..." says Gary.
This experience has led Gary Latham Photography to open up Digital Photography and Adobe Lightroom workshops in the historic seaside town of Ramsgate, his home since 2017.
